Finally finished refinishing a 1948 church stained glass window. I personally removed the windows with care. They were some that are damaged. I picked one of the damaged one to redo. Removing the old glazing was a chore in itself. Was real careful not to break the glass. Afterwords it was stripping many coats of paint. Lots of hrs spend doing touch ups with wood filler. Lots off sanding as I wanted a real nice finish. One coat of primer and two coats of paint. All the rabbits where glass sits had to be scraped down so that glass pieces sit nice and flush. All had to be secured with lock in tab. The top piece with the round edges was the hardest to do. Lots of paint stripper and many different tool used to get it all cleaned up. Wood filler and lots of sanding to get it look like new. I coat primer two paint. Cleaned the rabbits and put in and secured glass. Next was drilling and putting in dowels to attach top to bottom piece. This in itself was challenging lol one dowel while glue dried somehow went a little South so had to fight some to get the two together. A light coat of caulking fixed that lol Once all together I installed a door weatherstrip all around the frame with sticky side down. I next installed the LED lights that I ordered from Amazon. They are battery operated. They come in 7 foot length. Two were used. Lastly was finding the stud to mount it on. Two wood screws at the back with a rebar wire used to hang it. I am very pleased how it turned out. Total time it took me was 44.5 hrs. Well worth it and I enjoyed doing it. Many more to do yet. Let me know what you think 😁✌️
